CSXT offers online interline prices for traffic terminating on NS, CPR

Last week, CSX Transportation announced it’s now offering instantaneous interline prices via the Internet for traffic terminating on Norfolk Southern and Canadian Pacific railways.

Earlier this year, CSXT began providing interline prices for general merchandise carload shipments originating on the Class I’s and short-line partners’ lines and terminating on BNSF Railway Co., Canadian National Railway Co. and Union Pacific Railroad.

Shippers can obtain an interline price online by logging onto www.csx.com or CSXT’s secure Web site ShipCSX.com. After entering an interline shipment’s origin, destination and commodity, shippers receive a rate based on a combination of each railroad’s established price for its portion of the move. Rates are valid for one year.

“Our customers have told us they need instantaneous pricing on all business, including price quotes for interline shipments,” said Ed Jenkins, CSXT assistant vice president of e-business and marketing strategy, in a prepared statement.
