Canadian Pacific Kansas City last week opened its new U.S. Operations Center at Knoche Yard in Kansas City, Missouri.
The building will house the Class I's U.S. network operations, yard operations, CPKC Police offices and a training center.
CPKC broke ground on the four-story, 46,000-square-foot facility on April 14, 2023, in K.C. That was the same date and location where CPKC drove in the ceremonial spike to commemorate the merger of Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern railroads. The track panel used in the spike ceremony was installed outside the front entrance of the operations center.
The building was designed with sustainability and the railroads' histories in mind, CPKC officials said in a press release. The new operations center has a 1950s-themed rail-car design with additional artwork and finishes chosen to reflect the heritage of both CP and KCS.
