CSX Corp. recently entered into an alliance with eSSENTIAL Accessibility to provide online tools designed to help people with disabilities or language barriers access the railroad’s web site more easily.

An eSSENTIAL Accessibility icon is located at the foot of web pages to enable users to download the suite of tools. Part of CSX’s ongoing efforts to promote diversity, the tools are tailored for web site visitors who have difficulty typing, moving a mouse or reading a web page, CSX officials said in a prepared statement.

“We … strive to be inclusive for all who wish to learn more about us online," said Susan Hamilton, CSX’s assistant vice president-diversity. "With this new addition to our web site, we are providing mouse replacement tools, a page reader, a hands-free movement tracking system and many more customizable options.”

Through the alliance with eSSENTIAL Accessibility, the Class I is taking part in a global Disability Community Involvement Initiative launched in association with leading advocacy groups for the disabled, CSX officials said.
