BNSF Railway Co., Norfolk Southern Railway and CN this week announced various awards they've received for excellence in reputation, service and sustainability, respectively.

BNSF was presented the Home Depot Rail Carrier of the Year award for 2025 at Home Depot's executive carrier conference. Home Depot cited its partnership with BNSF on a recent pilot project that improved routing and reduced transit time by more than 40% in a key market, BNSF officials said.

“This award highlights our commitment to collaborating with customers to deliver the efficient and reliable transportation services they need,” said BNSF Group Vice President Industrial Products Colby Tanner.

Meanwhile, NS was included among Fortune magazine's most admired companies in 2025. It also was the highest-ranked railroad in the trucking, transportation and logistics companies category. Fortune conducts an annual survey of  top executives, directors and financial analysists to identify companies with the strongest reputations, said NS officials in a press release.

“This recognition is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and passion of the Norfolk Southern team in our mission to move the American economy,” said NS President and CEO Mark George.

For CN, the Class I was included as a top sustainability performer in the global transportation industry in the 2025 S&P Global Yearbook. The Class I was listed on the Dow Jones Best-in-Class World Index for the 13th consecutive year and on the Dow Jones Best-in-Class North American Index for the 16th straight year, CN officials said in a press release.

“These recognitions demonstrate CN’s commitment to delivering responsibly and continued adherence to operating safely, being environmentally responsible, helping build stronger communities, while adhering to the highest governance standards,” said CN President and CEO Tracy Robinson.
