For the eighth straight year, BNSF Railway Co. is honoring truck drivers nationwide as part of National Truck Driver Appreciation Week.
Employees at BNSF intermodal facilities in California, Illinois and Texas will greet truck drivers — estimated to total 1,500 by week’s end — and distribute appreciation gifts. In addition, the Class I plans to send celebration kits to truckload customers.
“This is a small way for BNSF to say thanks to the truck drivers who help move the nation’s freight,” said Katie Farmer, BNSF vice president of domestic intermodal marketing, in a prepared statement.
The railroad works with more than 100 domestic motor carriers to move more than 2 million containers and trailers annually.
BNSF also announced yesterday the launch of a website dedicated to providing exclusive content to people and advocates interested in the Class I or freight-rail transportation. The “Friends of BNSF” site provides members access to articles, documents, photos and videos, including items from the Class I’s historical archives, such as authentic maps and documents, and classic brochures and advertisements.
