CJB Industries to expand Class I-served chemical plant in Georgia

CJB Industries last week announced plans to expand its Gil Harbin chemical production facility in Valdosta, Ga.

The 42,500-square-foot expansion involves two chemical process areas for custom manufacturing and additional space for transporting bulk chemicals by rail. The plant is adjacent to CSX Transportation and Norfolk Southern Railway mainlines.

The addition will increase the facility's size to more than 160,000 square feet for manufacturing liquids and solid products.

"The expansion has additional processing space available for new products and for rail-car loading or unloading," said Mike Murphy, the Gil Harbin plant's manager, in a press release. "The rail area has around 90 feet of track indoors, with over 18,000 gallons of containment."

The plant expansion and rail addition will enable CJB Industries to offer customers another transportation alternative, said President and Chief Executive Officer Clinton Beeland.

"By extending rail service capabilities and indoor rail-car containment for two rail cars, we can now provide our customers the option to save money through rail service," he said.
