Fortune names UP, CSX and NS among 'Most Admired' companies in the transportation industry

Three Class Is earned high marks on Fortune Magazine’s annual “Most Admired” companies list. Union Pacific Railroad was named the most admired company in the Trucking, Transportation and Logistics category for the fifth year in a row, with CSX Corp. coming in at second and Norfolk Southern Railway listed fourth.

Fortune partnered with the Hay Group to conduct a survey of executives, directors and analysts across hundreds of companies in the U.S. and around the globe.

UP was ranked No. 1 in all nine reputation attributes identified by Fortune: innovation; people management; use of corporate assets; social responsibility; quality of management; financial soundness; long-term investment value; quality of products/services; and global competitiveness.

"The top ranking by Fortune is a testament to our continuing efforts to deliver value to customers, shareholders and communities," said UP President and Chief Executive Officer Lance Fritz in a press release. "Our employees have an unparalleled focus on safety and service, and they earned this recognition."
