Newmont Mining Corp. has named Union Pacific Railroad its North American Supplier of the Year for its “innovative, safe and reliable transportation solutions,” according to a press release issued yesterday by UP.

The award recognizes vendors who demonstrate continuous progress toward developing a safer work environment, improving efficiency and creating value.

“Our industrial products and energy teams worked together to help provide consistent service and creative multi-modal transportation solutions, and we will work to find additional ways to add value for Newmont in the future,” said Eric Butler, UP’s vice president and general manager – industrial products, in a prepared statement.
