Savage takes wraps off BNSF-served railport in Kansas

Savage Cos. recently launched operations at a new multi-user railport/transload facility in El Dorado, Kan., that’s served by BNSF Railway Co.
Developed as part of the BNSF’s Assess, Improve and Maximize, or AIM, initiative — which is designed to optimize local operations to maximize supply-chain throughput — the facility will provide daily rail and car storage services to HollyFrontier Corp.’s El Dorado refinery. A grand opening for the railport will be held Oct. 13.
“This facility will help streamline service and increase capacity in the area,” said BNSF Industrial Products Group Vice President Dave Garin in a prepared statement.
The multi-commodity transload facility will target companies interested in "taking advantage of rail transport economics," according to Savage.
