CSX Transportation officials promoted the Class I's ethanol services last week during the Renewable Fuels Association's 19th annual National Ethanol Conference in Orlando, Fla.Their goal: raise shippers' awareness about the railroad's transportation capabilities "in this important market," CSX officials said in a press release. One of CSX's ethanol services is "EthX," which offers express deliveries. Through EthX, the railroad moves 80-car unit trains to a network of 18 eastern terminals."[We have] been actively supporting the ethanol industry and working with our customers and their receivers to ensure safe, efficient delivery of ethanol," said Clarence Gooden, CSX's executive vice president and chief commercial officer. "We look forward to continuing to work toward those objectives with both unit-train deliveries and single-car shipments."The railroad strives to handle smaller ethanol shipments with the same level of efficiency as large ones, said Kyle Hancock, vice president of industrial and agricultural."The ethanol network has potential to grow, especially if gasoline blends include a higher percentage of ethanol," he said.
