On April 22, CSX Corp. named Oscar Munoz executive vice president and chief financial officer to succeed Paul Goodwin, who plans to retire May 2 after serving CSX for 38 years.

Munoz, 44, most recently served as vice president and CFO of AT&T Corp. In 1983, he began his career with Pepsico Inc., later serving in several key financial positions with Coca Cola Enterprises and Coca Cola Co., including CFO and region vice president-finance and administration. Munoz also served USWest for four years, rising to the position of senior vice president-finance and administration.

"[Munoz] will bring broad experience, outstanding ability, high energy and a new perspective to CSX, and play a critical role in helping us achieve our mission of revenue growth and increased productivity," said CSX Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Michael Ward in a prepared statement, adding that one of Munoz's principal tasks will be to help CSX lower its operating ratio.

In 2001, Hispanic Business magazine selected Munoz as one of the U.S.'s top 100 most influential Hispanics.
