CSX ranked first among transportation companies on Newsweek's annual America's Most Responsible Companies list for 2023.
This is the second consecutive year the Class I has earned the top spot, CSX officials said in a press release. A joint effort of Newsweek magazine and global research firm Statista, the ranking recognizes companies that "are serious about being good corporate citizens," said Newsweek Global Editor-in-Chief Nancy Cooper.
The 2,000 largest U.S. public corporations, selected based on revenue, are reviewed each year for their environment, social and governance (ESG) initiatives based on key performance indicators and an opinion survey. CSX ranked 137th overall.
"CSX is committed to walking the walk in all aspects of ESG … to ensure we are able to deliver on our stakeholders’ expectations not just today, but for the future," said CSX Vice President of Corporate Communications Bryan Tucker.
