CSX adds 14 properties to 'Select Sites' development program

CSX recently designated 14 rail-served properties across eight states as participants in its Select Site industrial development program.

The sites have earned "silver" or "bronze" ratings based on an evaluation of a wide range of site characteristics, CSX officials said in a press release. The Class I worked with more than 40 communities over the past several months to gather information and identify top candidates for the Select Site program, which connects expanding companies with rail-served properties.

"The information collected for these properties, which will soon be available online through the CSX Prospector listing, will allow site consultants and manufacturers a quick and convenient way to identify premium rail-served industrial properties where they can locate new manufacturing facilities — generating new jobs and capital investment," said Kellen Riley, CSX senior director of industrial development.

The newest sites to receive a silver rating are: Montgomery Inland Logistics, Alabama; Prattville South Industrial Park, Alabama; Androscoggin Mill, Maine; Carleton Advanced Manufacturing Site, Virginia; and Devaney Site, Alabama.

Sites that received a bronze rating are: Bushy Park, South Carolina; Pierce County Industrial Rail Park, Georgia; Creamer Industrial Park, Alabama; Atlantic Gateway Logistics Park, North Carolina; Mayde Road Rail Site, Kentucky; Florence County Industrial Park South, South Carolina; Berkeley Rail Park, South Carolina; Cumbo Yards, West Virginia; and Mid-Atlantic Advanced Manufacturing Center, Virginia.

In addition to appearing on the Select Sites list, all sites in the latest group of designees will receive valuable feedback regarding potential areas of improvement. They are encouraged to engage with CSX on how to continually improve their appeal to potential developers, CSX officials said.
