CSX designates Ohio industrial park a 'platinum' Select Site

CSX has designated the Rickenbacker South Industrial Rail Park in Pickaway County, Ohio, a Platinum CSX Select Site.

Select Sites are development-ready properties along the CSX network where land use considerations have already been addressed, significantly reducing the time required to construct facilities, CSX officials said in a press release.

Rickenbacker South Industrial Rail Park is a 671-acre property adjacent to a CSX mainline in Columbus, Ohio. The site offers access to U.S. Highway 23 and is 7 miles south of Interstate 270. The park is ideal for rail shippers that require significant electric capacity, CSX officials said. 

To receive the platinum designation, Rickenbacker South Industrial Park met a rigorous list of criteria, including infrastructure and utility availability, environmental reviews, zoning and entitlement approvals, air quality permitting, rail serviceability, and proximity to highways and interstates.

CSX created the Select Site program in 2012 to serve new and existing shipper customers on its network and of its short line partners. Austin Consulting works with CSX to screen candidate sites and assist communities with the application and certifications.
