CSX Transportation Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Tony Ingram recently did some recruiting at his former employer to find the Class I’s next chief transportation officer.

On Friday, CSXT announced it appointed David Brown vice president and CTO. Most recently Norfolk Southern Corp.’s VP of strategic planning, Brown will be responsible for CSXT’s transportation network and daily train volume.

During his 25-year NS career, Brown held various operating positions, including general manager-northern region.

“David will provide the leadership and experience to continue the significant progress our team has made in safety, reliability and customer service,” said Ingram — who in March 2004 left NS as senior VP-transportation network and mechanical to join CSXT — in a prepared statement.
