AAR award honors CSX auto service

The Association of American Railroads (AAR) recognized CSX Corp. and its Total Service Distribution Inc. (TDSI) subsidiary for the highest-quality automotive ramp service performance.

The AAR awards, given each year to one origin and one destination facility in the industry, recognized CSX's Strawberry Yard in Louisville, Ky., as the top origin for finished vehicle staging and loading, and CSX's facility at Palm Center, Fla., as the top destination for light vehicle unloading in 2014, the Class I announced yesterday in a press release.

The recognition followed quality review audits that examined policy, procedures and conditions of the facilities.

"Our core strategy for our automotive customers focuses on delivering safe, high-quality service every day, and we appreciate the recognition of the hard work of our automotive network employees," said Clarence Gooden, CSX executive vice president and chief commercial officer.

CSX also was the only railroad named to the Hyundai GLOVIS President's Club for elite service, the third consecutive year the Class I has been recognized.

The award from GLOVIS, a third-party logistics service provider, recognizes companies that performed at the highest level when measured against certain key metrics, including transit performance, damage-free shipment handling and deliveries and customer service.
