Terminals operated by Total Distribution Services Inc. (TDSI), a CSX subsidiary, received the Association of American Railroads' (AAR) "Terminal of the Year" award in both the origin and destination categories.
TDSI Strawberry Yard in Louisville, Kentucky, earned the Origin Terminal of the Year award with a 99.69% audit score.
TDSI Palm Center in Jupiter, Florida, won the Destination Terminal of the Year award with a 99.98% audit score.
The award winners are chosen based on the results of audits at about 180 automotive origin and destination terminals across the country. Origin terminals load new vehicles onto rail cars as they leave manufacturing plants, and destination terminals unload vehicles bound for local dealerships.
The quality review audits cover hundreds of items related to the policy, procedures and conditions at the facilities, with emphasis on safe operations and damage prevention, according to a CSX press release.
The AAR will present the origin and destination terminal of the year awards at a ceremony this month.
