CSX Total Distribution Services Inc.’s (TDSI) automotive transload facility in New Boston, Michigan, last week received the Highest Quality Review Score award from the Association of American Railroads.
This is the eighth consecutive year a TDSI location has earned the award for destination or origin terminals, CSX officials said in a press release. TDSI is a CSX subsidiary.
One of North America's largest automotive transload terminals, the facility handles nearly 500,000 new Ford, Stellantis and General Motors vehicles per year, CSX officials said.
The terminal earned a quality audit score of 99.98% after AAR auditors, in unannounced visits, evaluated facility policy, procedures and conditions with an emphasis on safe operations and damage prevention.
"The New Boston team set a goal at the start of the year to win the top honor, and they delivered with flying colors,” said TDSI General Manager Bryce Thomas. “Along with our contractors Auto Warehousing Corp. and New Boston Rail Service, we put together a detailed plan to provide the highest-quality automotive transload services in the industry."
TDSI locations in Jupiter, Florida, East Brookfield, Massachusetts, and Louisville, Kentucky, also have earned the top designation in the past two years.
