CSX yesterday announced that it reached a new five-year tentative collective bargaining agreement with the National Conference of Firemen & Oilers (NCFO); as well as the ratification of a labor agreement with the Transportation Division of the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers (SMART-TD) yardmasters.
The tentative agreement with NCFO is pending ratification by the unions’ membership at CSX and was reached before the current collective agreement becomes amendable. To date, CSX has reached tentative agreements with 13 of its labor unions, covering 17 different work groups and accounting for nearly 60% of its unionized workforce.
Terms of the Class I’s labor agreements are aligned, providing union members with equivalent packages of improved wages, health care and paid time-off benefits, CSX officials said in a press release.
