CSX opens new intermodal terminal in Quebec
CSX Corp. yesterday officially inaugurated its new intermodal terminal in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Quebec.
The terminal will increase access for Montreal regional businesses to the CSX network, which reaches south into the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast United States, CSX officials said in a press release.
The approximately 90-acre facility features three miles of track and uses three modern rubber-tire gantry cranes to transfer containers between trains and trucks. Goods will move from the terminal in double-stack intermodal trains.
"This state-of-the-art terminal is the result of a close working relationship between CSX and our local partners, and we believe it is a positive asset for Quebec and the Salaberry-de-Valleyfield community as we invest to grow together into the future," said CSX President and Chief Operating Officer Oscar Munoz.
Munoz was joined at the inauguration event by government officials from Salaberry-de-Valleyfield and Quebec.
