For the third consecutive year, CSX Corp. has been named to DiversityInc's annual ranking of the Top 10 Companies for Veterans, the Class I announced yesterday.

CSX earned the No. 4 spot on the annual list, which recognizes employers for hiring and developing employees with military experience.

One in five CSX employees has served in the armed forces; 27 percent of employees hired in 2014 are veterans, according to a CSX press release.

The Class I focuses on military recruitment and retention, with differential pay available for active Reserve and National Guard members and veteran-specific inclusion activities and support, railroad officials said.

"CSX prides itself on fostering an inclusive culture that celebrates the valuable experiences of those who have served our country," said CSX Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Michael Ward. "It is an honor to hire veterans, who bring important skills to the CSX workforce, including a focus on safety, a talent for teamwork and excellent leadership traits."

In addition to the DiversityInc ranking, CSX has been recognized by G.I. Jobs and CivilianJobs.com for its hiring of military veterans.

DiversityInc recognizes companies with demonstrated commitments to diverse hiring and business practices. The Top 10 Companies for Veterans showcases companies with demonstrated commitment and leadership in recruiting, support systems for veterans and their families, contributions to organizations supporting veterans, and supplier diversity.
