CSX recognizes 62 customers for hazmat safety

CSX yesterday honored 62 customers with its 31st Annual Chemical Safety Excellence Award for their commitment to safely transporting hazardous materials across the CSX rail network in 2024.

To qualify, shippers must ship at least 600 carloads of hazardous materials with zero non-accidental releases of regulated substances during the year, said CSX officials in a press release.

The 2024 recipients collectively shipped 164,438 carloads safely, highlighting how rail is the safest mode of land transportation for hazardous chemicals, they added.

This year's awards included special recognition for Citgo Petroleum and Westlake Corp., which both achieved five consecutive years of accident-free shipments.
