CSX to serve Indianapolis industrial park

Last week, the Indianapolis Industrial Center (IIC) announced it entered into an agreement with CSX Transportation that will enable the Class I to access a siding and serve tenants at an industrial park in Indianapolis.

Work on a new siding in the park is nearly complete and the first rail deliveries are expected to begin later this month, IIC officials said in a prepared statement. In addition, CSXT will improve some of its own sidings.

"With rail service, we can pursue a wide range of business partnerships through CSX, and position the park to serve the needs of logistics and manufacturing companies throughout central Indiana and around the Midwest," said Don Foley Jr., president of the IIC and its parent company Merchandise Realty Corp. "We believe that the combination of rail service with our indoor rail sidings, access to interior bridge cranes of up to 25-ton capability and the flexible logistics options will provide a unique set of competitive solutions to our clients."

The agreement will expand CSXT's opportunities to provide rail service and other services through its network of industrial warehouses, said Jeff Wagoner, CSXT's manager of industrial development.

"We are optimistic that these investments will pay off well beyond the initial traffic already committed, and provide growth opportunities for both parties," he said.
