Capital Development Partners Inc. last week announced a lease has been signed with Plastic Express for 982,800 square feet at the CSX-served Central Port Logistics Center in Savannah, Georgia.
The infrastructure and facility represent an investment of more than $155 million that will support the Georgia Ports Authority's (GPA) export capability in Savannah, according to a Capital Development Partners press release.
Plastic Express is a veteran-owned and operated logistics company and a leader in the plastic resin industry. The leased facility will offer packaging, warehousing, transloading and storage capacity for more than 8,000 20-foot equivalent units. The building is in the first phase of the 1,000-acre industrial park that offers 5.5 million square feet of warehouse to support GPA growth.
"We are excited to develop the premier CSX-served building in the Savannah Gateway for Plastic Express, a world class operator and repeat customer. This export facility will be highly efficient, add jobs, and allow U.S. manufacturing to be highly competitive in the global markets," said John Knox Porter, CEO of Capital Development Partners.
Central Port Logistics Center offers access to Veterans Parkway via an interchange and roads, access to Interstate 95 and Interstate 16, and a direct route to port terminals. Starting in June 2024, Plastic Express and CSX plan to turn the facility 10 times per day and export more than 150 million tons of U.S.-made resin products.
