Through it's Select Site program, CSX recently helped Atlanta-based Georgia-Pacific locate a new $425 million Dixie paper products manufacturing facility in Jackson, Tennessee.
CSX's industrial development team served as a liaison between Georgia-Pacific and Jackson government officials and helped identify a ready-to-build site that met the manufacturer’s infrastructure, rail access, utilities and workforce needs. The new plant spans 900,000 square feet on 240 acres and will produce Dixie paper plates and bowls. Once fully operational, the facility will employ 220 people.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the plant was held Oct. 9.
“Beyond job creation, the plant is expected to bolster the area’s reputation as a manufacturing hub, attracting more businesses to the region,” CSX officials said in a press release.
The CSX Select Site program was developed over a decade ago and hosts a database of over 1,000 potential development sites. CSX program officials help manufacturers find locations for new facilities and municipal leaders market their development sites to investors.
