CSX last week unveiled its new Pride in Service community investment program to honor and improve the lives of military veterans, active duty military and first responders.

The multimillion-dollar commitment and "collaborative approach" will affect more than 100,000 people over the next two years, CSX officials said in a press release.

CSX officials announced the new program during a ceremony held last week at the Class I's headquarters in Jacksonville, Florida.

The Pride in Service program will work with nonprofit organizations including Blue Star Families, First Responders Children's Foundation, Operation Gratitude, Operation Homefront and Wounded Warrior Project.

"CSX is proud to partner with these leading organizations to give back to those who have sacrificed so much in their service to this country and their communities," said CSX President and Chief Executive Officer James Foote.

The program was developed to help connect service men, women and family members with financial assistance, such as scholarships for children of fallen or injured service members. It also will offer support networks, such as groups and clubs; and volunteer opportunities and service projects for CSX employees.

CSX employs more than 3,700 veterans, active-duty military and first responders, company officials said.
