The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) will host three public listening sessions in May to solicit information on the topic of sleep apnea among people who occupy certain jobs in rail and highway transportation.
The sessions will focus on the prevalence of moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), its potential consequences for the safety of rail and highway transportation, and the potential cost and benefits from regulations that address safety risks associated with transportation workers who have OSA, according to a press release issued by both agencies.
Interested parties will be given an opportunity to share their views on the subject with representatives of both agencies, along with any data or analysis they may have.
The sessions will be held May 12 at the National Association of Home Builders office in Washington, D.C.; May 17 at the Marriott Courtyard Chicago Downtown/River North in Chicago; and May 25 at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel and Suites in Los Angeles.
