STB seeks nominations for railroad-shipper council

The Surface Transportation Board (STB) is seeking nominations for candidates to serve on the board's Railroad-Shipper Transportation Advisory Council (RSTAC).

The STB is soliciting RSTAC nominees for two small shipper representatives, one large shipper representative, two small railroad representatives and two large railroad representatives.

The council focuses on issues that matter to small shippers and small railroads, such as rail-car supply, rates, competition and procedures for addressing claims, STB officials said in a press release.

The council seeks to develop private-sector mechanisms to identify, address, and prevent obstacles to effective and efficient interstate transportation. RSTAC also prepares an annual report, which includes recommendations for regulations or legislation.

Information for submitting nominations is available via an STB notice issued yesterday.
