APTA backs emergency transit funding in American Rescue Plan

The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) this week stated its support for public transit funding included in the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.

The bill, H.R. 1319, would provide $30.5 billion in COVID-19 emergency funding to help public transit agencies survive the economic impacts of the pandemic. 

"Based on an independent economic analysis of COVID-19 impacts on public transit funding needs, APTA estimates that public transit agencies face $39.3 billion of additional costs and revenue losses, in addition to the emergency public transit funding provided in 2020," said APTA President and Chief Executive Officer Paul Skoutelas in a press release.
