The Surface Transportation Board (STB) yesterday announced details of an upcoming public hearing on previously proposed reciprocal switching regulations.

Slated for March 15-16, the hearing will address a proposed rulemaking that calls on railroads to establish switching arrangements in certain circumstances.

Previously, the STB’s proposal drew a wide range of stakeholder comments. However, significant changes have occurred in the freight-rail industry since that time. Stakeholders may now have additional or modified views on the impact of or need for the proposed regulations, STB officials said in a press release.

Those who wish to testify have until Jan. 27, 2022, to notify the board. Written comments, including required written testimony by hearing participants, must be submitted by Feb. 14, 2022. Hearing participants are required to submit written testimony by Feb. 14, 2022.
