Rail News: Federal Legislation & Regulation

FTA proposes changes to rail-safety training regs

The Federal Transit Administration is soliciting feedback on proposed updates to its Public Transportation Safety Certification Training Program (PTSCTP) regulation.

The changes, announced yesterday in the Federal Register, would build on existing training requirements for safety professionals at transit-rail agencies and ensure that the training curriculum is more responsive to evolving industry needs, FTA officials said in a press release.

The proposed revisions would streamline the PTSCTP communication process and clarify voluntary PTSCTP participation and refresher training requirements, according to the published notice.

Comments on the proposed changes are due Dec. 26.
