The Canadian government soon will require the nation’s major freight railroads to provide more data in an effort to strengthen the nation’s supply chain, Transport Minister Omar Alghabra announced yesterday.
Effective April 3, the railroads must supply the data to help rail users better understand the freight-rail sector’s end-to-end performance, Transport Canada officials said in a press release. The information will be published weekly on the government’s Transportation and Information Hub.
The data will be in addition to service and performance information currently collected from railroads as required by the Transportation Modernization Act of 2018.
