Duffy rescinds two Biden-era policy memos for infrastructure projects

The U.S. Department of Transportation has rescinded two memorandums issued during President Joe Biden's administration that added social justice and environmental considerations for critical infrastructure projects, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced yesterday.

The USDOT under the Biden administration had issued memorandums that outlined policy for using Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act resources for infrastructure projects. Among them were two memos outlining policies that the Trump administration has determined were issued in conflict with congressional intent and the Administrative Procedure Act, according to a press release issued by Duffy's office.

The policies "added meritless and costly burdens related to greenhouse gas emissions and equity initiatives," according to the press release.

“Under President Trump’s leadership, the Department of Transportation is getting back to basics — building critical infrastructure projects that move people and move commerce safely," Duffy said in the release.
