FTA provides new guidance on joint development projects

The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) has issued new guidance on the use of funds for FTA-funded real estate for joint developments.

The circular explains how a joint development project can qualify for FTA assistance; describes legal requirements that apply to the acquisition, use and disposition of property acquired with the agency's assistance; outlines common crosscutting requirements that apply to FTA-assisted projects and developments; and describes the agency's process for reviewing a joint development project proposal.

A Federal Register notice was published on Monday to address comments the FTA received earlier on the new guidance. On Oct. 1, the circular will cancel a 2007 notice of final agency guidance on the eligibility of joint development improvements under federal transit law.
