FTA solicits applications for rail-car replacement funding

The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) yesterday announced the availability of $197 million in competitive grant funding through the Rail Vehicle Replacement Program.

The fiscal-year 2024 funds will support efforts to replace the nation's aging rail cars.

The program will fund transit agencies and state and local governmental authorities’ efforts to replace rail vehicles that are approaching or have exceeded their useful life, so that passengers will experience an improved commute, according to a news release.

Complete proposals are due Dec. 18. They must be submitted electronically through the grants.gov "apply" function.
