advertisement

The impact of human trafficking on railroads will be the subject of a panel presentation at the Secure Rail Conference, which Progressive Railroading will host Feb. 9-10 in Orlando, Fla.

The presentation will examine the problem of human trafficking in the United States, how traffickers use railroads to transport their victims, and steps railroads can take to try to stop the problem. The presentation also will review the differences between human trafficking and human smuggling.

Presenting the session will be Scott Santoro of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and James Lewis of the Amtrak Police Department.

The conference was designed to provide educational sessions and panel discussions of security issues that affect freight and passenger railroads.
