New STB website address to reflect agency's independence

The Surface Transportation Board (STB) will change its website address, a reflection of a legislative change in the board's status as a federal agency.

The board will change its website address to "www.stb.gov" after the close of business on Sept. 9. The new address replaces the current address, "www.stb.dot.gov," to reflect the board's new status as a federal agency that is independent of the U.S. Department of Transportation.

The board's administrative affiliation with the department was eliminated as part of the STB Reauthorization Act of 2015, STB officials said in a press release.

In connection with the change, the agency's website will be unavailable from 5 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. (EDT) on Sept. 2; and 5 p.m. Sept. 9 to 11:59 p.m. on Sept. 10.

Email addresses for agency personnel will be changed in the coming weeks.
