STB publishes latest rail rate report

The Surface Transportation Board’s Office of Economics (OE) yesterday announced the publication of the Annual Rail Rate Index Study: 1985-2020.

The publication distills data and analysis of freight-rail rates into formal reports that are shared with the board and the public, STB officials said in a press release.

The study provides user-friendly graphs to represent real and nominal levels of revenue per ton-mile and separates rail rates by commodity groups.
