The Surface Transportation Board’s (STB) Rail Energy Transportation Advisory Committee (RETAC) will hold a meeting Sept. 15 in Tulsa, Okla., to discuss various energy sector issues.
Members will address rail performance, capacity constraints, infrastructure planning and development, and ways to foster more effective coordination among suppliers, carriers and energy users. Potential agenda items also include a discussion on ethanol issues and election of new officers.
RETAC was formed in 2007 to provide advice and guidance to STB members, and serve as a forum for the discussion of emerging issues regarding rail-transported energy resources, including coal, ethanol and other biofuels. The committee is co-chaired by BNSF Railway Co.’s Steve Bobb and Dairyland Power Cooperative’s William Berg, with TrinityRail’s Robert Hulick serving as secretary/treasurer. RETAC’s 23 voting members include Paul Hammes of Union Pacific Railroad; Ed McKechnie of the Watco Cos. L.L.C.; Henry Rupert of CSX Transportation; Dan Sabin of the Iowa Northern Railway Co.; Darin Selby of Kansas City Southern; Mark Hamilton of Norfolk Southern Railway; and James Stem of the United Transportation Union.
