President Donald Trump last week nominated Steven Bradbury to serve as general counsel of the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT), while a Senate committee held nominations for other department positions, the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) reported.Bradbury headed the Office of Legal Counsel at the Department of Justice from 2005 to 2009. Currently, he is a litigation partner at Dechert LLP in Washington, D.C., according to the AASHTO Journal.Also last week, the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee advanced Trump's nomination of Derek Kan as USDOT undersecretary for policy, and Robert Sumwalt for another five-year term as a member of the National Transportation Safety Board.The Senate committee also is considering the nomination of Adam Sullivan as assistant secretary of transportation for government affairs. Trump has yet to nominate candidates for the department's open modal administrator positions, including those for rail, transit and highway, the Journal reported.
