USDOT solicits RAISE grant applications for 2024

The U.S. Department of Transportation yesterday announced the availability of $1.5 billion in funding through the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) discretionary grant program in 2024.

The program provides grants to help communities carry out transportation projects with significant local or regional impact. Applications for 2024 grants are due Feb. 28, 2024. Selections will be announced no later than June 27, 2024, according to a USDOT press release.

RAISE discretionary grants help project sponsors at the state and local levels, including municipalities, tribal governments, counties and others to complete critical freight and passenger transportation infrastructure projects. The program's eligibility requirements allow project sponsors to obtain funding for projects that may be harder to support through other transportation grant programs, USDOT officials said.

In 2023, RAISE funding supported 162 projects in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the Northern Mariana Islands.
