The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) has issued a request for information (RFI) to help develop a National Freight Strategic Plan that includes 11 statutorily required components to address multimodal transportation.

The plan was mandated by the Fixing America's Surface Transportation (FAST) Act.

USDOT is seeking information from the public, state and local agencies, private owners and operators, industry trade groups, shippers and beneficial cargo owners and other stakeholders to assist in developing the plan.

"The safe and efficient movement of freight is vital to the nation's economic growth and to the creation of well-paying jobs for millions of Americans," the RFI states.
