The Chinese Ministry of Railways recently awarded a contract to Parsons Brinckerhoff to provide project/construction management and system assurance services for a 285-mile high-speed rail line between Zhengzhou and Xi’an in east-central China. PB is part of a joint venture that also includes 3rd Railway Survey and Design Institute of China and Deutsche Eisenbahn-Consulting GmbH.

Running through Louyang, Sanmenxia and Weinan, the line will be the middle segment of an 870-mile line to be built between Xuzhou and Lanzhou. Trains will reach a top speed of 215 mph. Construction on the $4 billion segment is expected to begin in the third quarter and take four years to complete.
