Invensys Rail recently completed installation of its FUTUR 1300 European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) Level 1 and associated signaling systems on Turkey’s new high-speed rail line between Ankara and Konya.

Under a contract signed in 2008, Invensys provided the signaling and FUTUR 1300 (trackside) and FUTUR 3000 (onboard) ERTMS Level 1 system for the line, which is operated by the Turkish State Railways. The system also includes Westrace Electronic Interlocking, FS3000 jointless track circuits, LED wayside signals and a Rail9000 Traffic Control Center at the Ankara station, according to Invensys.

The 131-mile high-speed line, which was inaugurated in August, is used by trains operating at speeds up to 155 mph. The new track section between Ankara and Konya links with the Ankara-Istanbul line at the Polatli station and eventually will connect the cities of Izmir and Afyon.

In addition, Invensys Rail has obtained a contract from the Turkish State Railways to install the FUTUR 2500 ERTMS Level 2 system on the line. The scope of that work, which is under way, includes system design and manufacturing, supervision of installation, testing and commissioning, according to Invensys.
