The Illinois Department of Transportation has awarded a contract to URS Corp. to conduct design and survey services for the Chicago-to-St. Louis high-speed rail corridor.

The firm will develop preliminary plans for more than 200 grade crossings to support 110 mph service. Crossing improvements will include quad gate systems, fencing and pedestrian gates. URS will provide civil, structural, drainage and roadway services associated with the projects.
