The California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) has completed a supplemental alternatives analysis for the Palmdale-to-Burbank segment and will host community meetings later this month to update residents on the project. As part of the analysis, three alignment alternatives were recommended for full analysis in an environmental impact report/environmental impact statement, CHSRA officials announced yesterday. The three alternatives incorporate refinements aimed at avoiding or minimizing impacts to existing facilities, land uses and environmental resources, authority officials said. CHSRA is hosting the open houses to provide more project information, including the alternatives under consideration. The meetings are slated for Sept. 14, 17 and 22.The entire proposed $64 billion high-speed rail line eventually would operate from San Francisco to the Los Angeles. The House Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines and Hazardous Materials earlier this week held a field hearing in San Francisco to examine the status of the project.
