Alstom Transport recently delivered the final track and overhead catenary system sections to Union Railways North for Section 2 of the Paris-to-London high-speed rail line.

Connecting Ebbsfleet and London, the section will open for service Nov. 14. To be used exclusively by high-speed trains, the line will reduce travel times between Paris and London from two hours, 35 minutes to two hours, 15 minutes.

Under a $246.2 million contract awarded in 2002 to ACT, a joint venture comprising Alstom, Carillion plc and TSO, Alstom installed 25 miles of double track (half of which is located in tunnels), constructed overhead lines and managed railway access.
