AECOM Technology Corp. recently acquired INOCSA Ingenieria S.L., a professional technical services firm that helped launch Spain’s high-speed rail program.

“INOCSA’s expertise in segments such as energy, environment, water, and transportation — and especially high-speed rail, which is a focus for us around the world — makes it a natural fit with AECOM’s worldwide suite of services,” said AECOM President and Chief Executive Officer John Dionisio in a prepared statement. “Its presence in Europe also augments our footprint on the continent.”

With more than 1,500 route kilometers of high-speed rail in use, Spain has 1,600 kilometers under construction and 800 more in the planning stages. INOCSA, which has headquarters in Madrid, has been an “integral part of Spain’s high-speed rail program from the outset,” according to the AECOM release. INOCSA also has offices in Bosnia, Georgia, Honduras, Mali, Mexico, Romania and Peru.

A Fortune 500 company, AECOM bills itself as a “global provider” of professional technical and management support services to a broad range of markets — including transportation, facilities, environmental, energy, water and government.
