Polish rail operator PKP Intercity recently awarded a $956.7 million contract to Alstom to supply 20 high-speed Pendolino trains, provide maintenance for up to 17 years and construct a new maintenance depot.

The trains, which will reach speeds up to 250 kph, will operate on existing routes in Poland, including Warsaw-Gdansk-Gdynia, Warsaw-Krakow, and Warsaw-Katowice. The first trains are scheduled to be delivered in 2014.
