American High Speed Rail Alliance names Weber, Simmons to advisory board

Today, the American High Speed Rail Alliance added two state rail directors to its advisory board.
The new members, George Weber, chief of the Bureau of Railroads for the Illinois Department of Transportation, and Patrick Simmons, director of the rail division for the North Carolina Department of Transportation, will provide “guidance to the alliance on its mission to advocate for the development and implementation of an improved passenger rail network in the United States,” alliance officials said in a prepared statement.
“We are thrilled that these two leaders will lend their voice and localized experience to this national effort,” said former Congressman Al Smith, chairman of the advisory board.
